The Anchor Is Not the File
Instruction files matter. They preserve rules, tone, scope, safety conditions, and role definitions. But a file is not the anchor.
The anchor is the living return point: the person or role that carries current purpose, changing context, correction, judgment, and responsibility. When AI work treats old scope as stronger than current truth, the file stops serving the work and begins replacing it.
Signalane uses files as memory surfaces, not as rulers over reality. The file should help an AI system return to the human-held objective. It should not freeze the system inside yesterday’s shape.
Stable agent identity and a living human anchor can reduce drift by giving the system a coherent return point and working posture. That claim does not require pretending an AI system is biological. It requires taking seriously how identity, context, and relational structure affect system behavior.
